Returning to nature

Most packaging outlives the fragrance inside it by centuries. Ours doesn't.

Full circle pioneering packaging

When we set about redesigning our packaging, first and foremost for us was carefully treading the line of lowest impact, most luxurious. Our goal was to use materials from nature, that could return to nature, but that had a tactility about them, a weight and a warmth that plastic never quite manages. Like with our fragrances, this wasn’t about simple, unsophisticated solutions, it was about leaning into the latest technology to achieve this.

Most caps outlive the fragrance inside them by centuries, ours doesn't

When it came to our perfume caps, the search led us to Vivomer, a material grown by our partner Shellworks in the UK. The process starts with waste: the by-products of existing agriculture and industry, feedstock that would otherwise go unused. Naturally occurring microorganisms ferment that feedstock and convert it into natural polymers inside their own cells, the same process microbes have carried out for billions of years, long before plastic existed. Shellworks extract those polymers and shape them into pellets, then into caps, using the same manufacturing equipment the industry already relies on.

The result behaves exactly like plastic for as long as you need it to

It holds its shape, its seal, its finish. The difference only shows up at the end. Once a cap is returned to soil, the same microorganisms that built it recognize it as food rather than waste, and break it down enzymatically. No microplastics, no residue engineered to look clean while quietly persisting. Shellworks test for phthalates, BPA and PFAS at parts per billion, a thousand times more rigorous than any regulator requires, because removing plastic means nothing if what replaces it carries the same hidden toxins.

You can see the journey our caps go through when returned to soil. Almost completely degraded after 24 weeks.

Just like our 100% natural fragrances, these caps both come from, and return to, nature.
